In these guides, nasion means the nasal root, subnasale the nose base, and pogonion the most forward chin point. Frankfort refers to the direction from the ear-opening landmark to the lower orbital landmark.

Why it matters

This compares the eye surface with the nearby eyelid contour. It is distinct from Orbital Vector, which uses the lower orbital reference rather than the lower eyelid.

  • Negative: the eye front lies behind the lower-eyelid reference.
  • Positive: the eye front lies ahead of the lower-eyelid reference.
