Mouth-to-Nose Width Ratio
The horizontal mouth width compared with nose-base width.
What is measured
The calculation
Mouth-corner width ÷ alar nose width

Why it matters
It connects two neighboring features. The same mouth may seem relatively wide next to a narrow nose and relatively narrow next to a broad nose.
- Lower: a narrower mouth relative to the nose.
- Higher: a wider mouth relative to the nose.
Where the idea comes from
Classical proportion
Comparing widths belongs to the anthropometric tradition. FaceIQ expresses these photographed distances as a ratio; population measurements provide context rather than proof of this particular scoring range. [1]
A worked example
A 51-unit mouth and 35-unit nose give 51 ÷ 35 ≈ 1.46. This says nothing about lip thickness.
Example values explain the calculation. They are not a target range and are not measurements of the schematic above.

The sources below explain the history or related evidence. FaceIQ’s score weights and reference ranges are model settings; these papers do not collectively validate the scoring system.
