Nose Bridge to Nose Width
Nose-base width compared with bridge width. The calculation divides the base by the bridge.
What is measured
The calculation
Alar nose-base width ÷ nose-bridge width

Why it matters
This describes how strongly the nose widens from bridge to base. It gives context to nasal taper that a single nose-width measurement cannot show.
- Lower: the bridge is broader relative to the base.
- Higher: the bridge is narrower relative to the base.
Where the idea comes from
FaceIQ adaptation
This is a FaceIQ landmark-based description of facial shape. The linked research provides background on facial measurement or perception; it has not directly validated this exact formula or its score. [1]
A worked example
A 36-unit base over an 18-unit bridge gives 2.0. A 15-unit bridge at the same base width gives 2.4.
Example values explain the calculation. They are not a target range and are not measurements of the schematic above.
Research & further reading
The sources below explain the history or related evidence. FaceIQ’s score weights and reference ranges are model settings; these papers do not collectively validate the scoring system.
