Nose Tip Position
The vertical offset of the nose-bottom landmark from the nasal-base landmark in the front photo.
What is measured
The calculation
(Nose-bottom y − nasal-base y) × photo scale

Follow the measurement
Dots mark the landmarks. Lines show how the measurement is taken.
Why it matters
This describes the front-view relationship between the tip region and the nose base. It can help explain the visible nose-to-upper-lip transition without confusing it with sideways deviation.
- Negative: the nose-bottom landmark is above the nasal base.
- Positive: the nose-bottom landmark is below the nasal base.
Where the idea comes from
FaceIQ adaptation
This is a FaceIQ landmark-based description of facial shape. The linked research provides background on facial measurement or perception; it has not directly validated this exact formula or its score. [1]
A worked example
With a photo scale of 0.2 estimated mm per unit, a nose-bottom landmark 10 units below the nasal base gives +2 mm.
Example values explain the calculation. They are not a target range and are not measurements of the schematic above.
Research & further reading
The sources below explain the history or related evidence. FaceIQ’s score weights and reference ranges are model settings; these papers do not collectively validate the scoring system.
