Upper Eyelid Exposure
Visible upper-lid height relative to the eye-opening height, averaged across both eyes.
What is measured
The calculation
Mean of upper-lid-margin-to-crease height ÷ eye-opening height

Why it matters
The visible lid between the lashes and crease shapes the eye’s appearance independently of the eye opening. The denominator changes when the eye opens wider or squints.
- Lower: less visible upper lid relative to the eye opening.
- Higher: more visible upper lid relative to the eye opening.
Where the idea comes from
FaceIQ adaptation
This is a FaceIQ landmark-based description of facial shape. The linked research provides background on facial measurement or perception; it has not directly validated this exact formula or its score. [1]
A worked example
A 2-unit exposed lid and a 10-unit eye opening give 0.20. The app averages the two eye ratios.
Example values explain the calculation. They are not a target range and are not measurements of the schematic above.
